Saturday In-Store Tastings

We’ve got some interesting tastings coming up this month and hope you can make a few.  With one eye on the season and the other on some new wine arrivals we’re excited about, we’re out to make Saturday afternoons a bit more exciting for all concerned.  In case you’ve forgotten, we hold forth each Saturday from 2:00 – 5:00.  In addition to some wonderful wines we slice fresh baked baguettes from our friends at the Henion Bakery and prepare special tasting sheets with information on what we’re opening.  You can take them home, fold them into paper airplanes, whatever.  All of this compliments of Amherst Wines.  Hope to see you.

South Africa's Surprising Whites

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

With its heritage firmly rooted in Europe these whites tend to a more elegant style but also show some of the fruit and flash of New World wines.  The more we taste from this place, the more we become real believers.  Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, & blends.

Summer Reds

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Nothing too heavy or serious, reds we can enjoy with barbecue, salads, and other seasonal fare.  This will be a collection from hither and yon, under $15.  We'll show some off-beat bargains. Terrific discoveries to be made here.

Chardonnay Around the World

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The world’s #1 fine wine grape shows its range of styles as we move from California to Washington, France, Australia, maybe Chile.  You will really get to understand this grape and see the influence of geography on the finished product.

Spain's Unknown Whites

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

While justly known for its reds, the whites we’re tasting from Spain are nothing short of exciting.  Grapes such as Verdejo, Albarino, and others you’ve never heard of.  It’s a big world – you'll get to experience the road not taken.  You're gonna love some of these.

Beaujolais - Summer's Iconic Red

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

If there’s a better all-around warm weather red than Beaujolais, we haven’t found it.  Grown on granite-rich soil, these reds show bold flavors framed by the Gamay grape’s natural acidity.  Fresh, lively, and oh-so French.
